The Strategic Preparedness & Strike Committee (SPSC) builds an internal structure of union volunteers to support and implement an MEC’s strategic plan or carry out activities involved in large-scale union efforts such as negotiations for a new pilot collective bargaining agreement.
Significant effort goes into keeping communication open between pilot group members and elected leaders. Communication and unity-building programs such as Pilot-to-Pilot (P2P) and Family Awareness help ensure leaders stay aligned with pilots and those closest to them.
By showcasing unity and shared purpose through SPSC activities like Pilot Unity Building (PUB) events, rallies, social gatherings, and informational picketing, MEC leaders gain the strength to confront management on equal footing. These efforts demonstrate member support, empowering the union to achieve collective goals.
